"EXCELLENCE FOR EQUINES & EQUESTRIANS"
THEA MAXFIELD - Director
Thea Maxfield is an equine performance consultant working to improve the standard of care within the equestrian industry.
Having trained to grand prix level, and competed internationally in dressage herself, Thea runs a bespoke rehabilitation yard. She is acutely aware of the importance of a holistic approach.
In her role as a saddle fitter, she works closely with her clients, from grass roots to elite competitiors, ensuring each horse, rider and saddle is performing optimally.
Having been brought in to teach the Horse 1st Remedial Saddle Fitting Course in 2017, Thea has now taken over the role of director, and is dedicated to furthering the knowledge and expertise of every Horse 1st student.

"I am very much looking forward to taking over the reins of Horse 1st. We'have worked hard to create a new course with some fantastic lecturers, focusing on practical, scienced-based learning whilst remaining true to our holistic and horse-centred roots."
In my own experience as a rider I was struggling to move up from PSG, and was referred to renowned saddle fitter and horse first Co creator Kay Humphries, who quickly ascertained the saddle was the cause of my training hiatus. She remedied the situation on site with a new saddle. Straight away my horse was able to perform all the advanced moves that had been causing us trouble. I can truly say without doubt that, without a doubt, had I not been supported by Kay in her role as an elite remedial saddle fitter, I would not have reached my dream of training a horse to Grand Prix - nor made my subsequent career change.
